Colombo Centenary International Jamboree 2014 Organized by the Colombo District Scout Association was recently held at the Ygro Camp Site at Dummmalasuriya, Madampe from 1st of August 2014. 37 Scouts of Gold Troop proudly participated at the Jamboree under Royal College Flag. Mr Pasan Jayakody and Mr Supun Jayalath, Assistant Scout Leaders of Gold Troop, took part in the Jamboree as members of the Jamboree Organizing Committee. The mammoth gateway crafted by the scouts at the entrance of the Gold Troop camp site was self- evidentiary for the capabilities and skills of the present-day brothers of the Gold Troop. The colourful and creative gateway of the Gold Troop was one of the most attractive items on the Jamboree Site.

The Scouts participated at various outdoor activities such as “Iron Man”, wide games, excursions and “Messengers of Peace” at the Jamboree site. Every day of the Jamboree culminated with a musical show or a cultural show full of entertainment. More than 250 overseas scouts from 11 countries participated at the Jamboree allowing the scouts to share the knowledge, culture and brotherhood with fellow overseas scouts. Gold Troop, in collaboration with the other troops of the 42nd Royalists Scouts celebrated the 70th Colombo Scout Group with a tea party held at Gold Troop Camp Site.

The Royal College Old Scouts Association wishes to place on record its sincere appreciation to the Group Scout Leader and the Teacher-in-charge, the parents and in particular Sanath Maheepala – old Scout- for providing 50 sleeping mattresses and made the scouts’ sleep at the jamboree comfortable. RCOSA also wishes to thank the untiring efforts of the Scout Leader, Assistant Scout Leaders, instructors and the Old Scouts who visited the site from time to time, allocating time from their busy schedules.
